Ask the Disney Moms – Fun for the Boys

Reader Samantha asked:

I am visiting in December with my three year old daughter and one year old son. While I’ve booked tons of things for my three year old, I am clueless as to what there will be to do for my little guy. Any suggestions?

Samantha – and of course everyone else – as a mom of two little boys, I have to say – there aren’t as many “pay extra” things for little boys at the moment in the Disney Parks.  I recently wrote about this in a post for my personal blog.  Girls have more Princess possibilities than imaginable, from the Princess-specific character meals to the Bibbity-Bobbidy to the Grand Floridian teas.

However – there is one extra special opportunity for little boys (or girls) – a special haircut!  If possible, a 1st hair cut – the specialty of the Harmony Barber Shop in Main Street, U.S.A.  With a first hair cut, you receive a special certificate for the event as well as a complimentary set of mouse ears!  And, all for the same price as our local mall children’s hair cut place (under $20)!

Since my oldest son’s 1st haircut at 13 months, we have been back for 2 subsequent trips and I plan to have my 3 month old receive his first cut there on our next trip.

Reservations are available, but walk ins are also possible.

I have also seen little girls receiving the same “up-do” that is standard at the BBB – the overly tight/high bun.  They also offer glitter and paint and do temporary designs!

If your little ones enjoy Disney Junior, consider the Character and Dine at the Hollywood ‘n Vine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios or maybe the Donald’s Tusker House Safari meals – both available for breakfast and lunch.  These are great for the little ones and are less crowded than Chef Mickey’s or the Crystal Palace!

Enjoy!
