Your children just set sail on the Pirate Adventure Cruise from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and you have two hours until they return.

Freedom. On the family vacation.

Wait! What!?! If your normal family schedule is anything like mine, downtime like this is unique. You’ll want to make the most of it…here are my Top 5 suggestions for how to find your own adventure.

1. Have a leisurely breakfast.

Boasting a dozen restaurants or lounge areas, you are sure to find the perfect breakfast (or brunch) option.

2. Go on a shopping spree!

After your breakfast, go on a shopping spree. Even if it’s just ‘window’ shopping, you’ll enjoy browsing for everything from home goods and apparel to gifts and sundries.

3. Escape to a luxurious spa or salon.

Both Senses – A Disney Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Ivy Trellis Salon offer pampering services to delight and relax.

4. Take a self-guided tour of the monorail resorts.

The monorail loop includes three deluxe resorts, Magic Kingdom Park and the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). After exploring the grounds and shops of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, your next resort stop will be Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, followed by Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Each resort offers unique theming and a variety of shops and restaurants to enjoy.

5. People watch in the resort lobby. (or take a quick nap)

People-watching at Disney is a fun and innocent distraction. There are plenty of nooks and crannies in the resort lobby to observe the hustle and bustle of families beginning their day. If the lobby is a little quiet, then quick naps are always a fantastic option.

And just like that, your two child-free hours are up and it’ll be time to hear all about the treasure hunting adventure.

3 Swashbuckling Adventures Choose from 3 pirate adventures that traverse the waterways of Walt Disney World Resort. “Born and raised in the south, I now live in central New Jersey. My family delights in homeschooling, book club, and ministry work. My son and I are active members of our local church and enjoy camping with the Boy Scouts of America.

We believe every day is a day to celebrate and if you visit our kitchen, you will find us putting sprinkles on everything from pancakes to ice cream! Between baseball games and scouting trips, we enjoy dreaming about our next Disney vacation.”
