Sometimes it is fun to do things in Orlando that don’t involve actually stepping foot into Walt Disney World itself.
Last November I was lucky enough to attend a very special breakfast meeting at the Wyndham in Lake Buena Vista.
The Rotarty Club of LBV was founded in 1972 with the intention of attracting visiting Rotarians to their meetings, so that they didn’t miss out while they were on vacation.
They are the only civic organisation to be allowed to wear ‘ears’ on their logo and banner. They currently hold their breakfast meetings on the same floor of the Wyndham as a Disney character buffet.
I was able to go as in the UK my mother-in-law is a President of a club in Surrey, and Rotarians enjoy visiting each others clubs, especially if it is international. There is a special ceremony where the visitor presents and is presented with their home clubs and visiting clubs banner.
My mother-in-law was over the moon to be presented with their pin, with the iconic Mickey head.
I won’t preach about the amazing work that these clubs do and the wonderful people who give their time and money so such worthwhile causes – but if you don’t know much about them, then check out the above links.
Let us know if you’re a Rotarian and have any plans to visit this unique Disney experience!
