Ask The Disney Moms – Reader Question – Kids Veggie-friendly Counter Service Meals

Ask the Disney Moms

Today, we are answering the following question:

I am thinking of taking my 2 children to WDW but they are both vegetarian.  We don’t want to have to go to ‘sit-down’ restaurants all the time, would there be somewhere in each of the parks that my kids could easily grab some fast lunch or a quick snack? Thanks … Fay from the UK

Thank you for your question.  Over the years WDW has strove to improve the choice of both vegetarian and vegan meal and snack options on-site.

Nearly all places offer at least one kid friendly veggie option but I shall run through a few of them for you.

Magic Kingdom –

Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe = Smuckers Uncrustables peanut butter and jelly sandwich from the kids menu or can I suggest getting an adult veggie sandwich with fries for them to share?

Be Our Guest =Whole-Grain Macaroni – topped with marinara sauce and mozzarella

Pinocchio Village Haus = Macaroni and Cheese – with grapes and yogurt or Cheese Pizza – with grapes and yogurt

Many of the baked good in the Main Street Bakery (now a Starbucks) will be veggie friendly, but if in doubt, always ask a Cast Member.

EPCOT –

Electric Umbrella = kids veggie flatbread or mac and cheese

Tangierine cafe – again it’s an adult meal, but there is so much they could easily share = Vegetable Platter – Falafel, tangierine couscous salad, hummus, tabouleh, lentil salad and marinated olives

La Catine de San Angel = Cheese Empanada served with tortilla chips and fruit

There are several coffee and pastry kiosks around EPCOT selling various cakes, again always as a CM if you’re not 100% sure if something has no meat/fish

Hollywood Studios –

Toy Story Pizza Planet = cheese pizza

Backlot Express = grilled veggie sandwich or PBnJ sandwich

Studio Catering Company = Power Pack – strawberry yogurt, apple wedges, carrot sticks, goldfish crackers, apple-cinnamon snack bar and choice of small lowfat milk or small bottled water or a half veggie sandwich

Writer’s Stop offers a vast amount of yummy cakes, most of them appear veggie friendly, but as above, if unsure always ask.

Animal Kingdom –

Pizzafari = child’s cheese pizza, mac and cheese or PBnJ sandwich

Restuarantosaurus = they do offer a PBnJ sandwich, but maybe splitting the adult Vegetable Subosaurus – Grilled Vegetables, Mushrooms, Onions, and Provolone served on a Toasted Roll with French Fries, would be nicer

Bradley Falls = edamame beans, Asian noodle salad, fruit salad or summer rolls with peanut butter sauce.

Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery = a good choice of baked goods but you know by now, if in doubt of it’s providence ask a CM.

Hope that this helps, have a great trip!

I would also like to point out that Disney is very accommodating to folks bringing their own food. Scores of people bring in coolers and backpacks filled with food. So, feel free to bring that tub of hummus and veggies in a rolling cooler. It is cost effective too. If you don’t have a car, you can even have a local grocery delivery service deliver food to your hotel. All Disney resorts have a little grocery section of their gift shop. And lastly, table service is especially accommodating. Mention any dietary needs up front, and a chef will come to your table and help you select foods that you can enjoy. Hope it helps!
