Ask the Disney Moms – Babysitting at Walt Disney World

Ask the Disney MomsFrom Elena W.

Question for The Disney Moms: Has anyone used the Kids Nite Out baby sitting services?  We’re going to Disney in October for 8 nights and was thinking about a date night for my husband and me.

Kid’s Nite Out is an in-room babysitting service that Walt Disney World have been using since 2001.  Although I have not used the service personally, I have heard many great things about if from friends who have.  All sitters are over the age of 18 and are certified in child and infant CPR and First Aid.  They have all had stringent back ground and security checks, as you would expect with any caregiver and affiliate of WDW.
You can also make a preference of gender and age of the person you would like to look after your child. Many people have suggested it is like having Mary Poppins come to your room, and the children have actually been sad to see you arrive back from your date night. They provide toys and activities for the time they are with your child and are available 24/7. The service is available for children aged from 6 weeks to 12 years old.

The rates are reasonable and competitive.  One child = $16 per hour plus $2.50 per additional child. There is a four-hour minimum. There is also a $10 transportation fee. Reservations that begin after 8:59 p.m. require an additional $2 per hour premium. Cancellations require a 24-hour advance notice. Advance reservations are required. Holidays and special events require an additional premium.

Don’t forget, it you are staying at one of the Deluxe WDW resorts, there is also the option of the Children’s Activity Centers in many of them.  Resorts with this facility are – Grand Floridian, Swan and Dolphin, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Polynesian, Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge.
