Here is a question from Jennifer. She says, “Question for The Disney Moms: We are going for the first time this April. We are traveling with 2 girls, ages 5 & 6 and 2 boys 8 & 10. I really don’t want to separate . How do I pick the places and rides that they will all enjoy?” Congratulations on going to Disney for the first time. When we go to Disney World, we have to deal with what everyone wants to see and do. We make it a point not to separate into groups so sometime during our trip everyone is doing something they may not like or enjoy. We make it clear to the kids that sometimes we have to do a ride or attraction that we might not like so that we can move onto what they are looking forward to.
One thing we do is have everyone who is going, give us a list of the top 5-10 things they would absolutely love to do. After I get the lists I put it on a master list. With any luck they would have chosen some of the same things to put on their lists. So that we do stuff that everyone will enjoy.
You might want to have the kids look at the Disney website or a travel book that tells them what rides and attractions there is and have them list some of the things they might like. Then compile what everyone would like in a list and try to do some of the things on the list.
Chances are when they hit the parks excitement will kick in and everyone will be so excited that they will want to see and do everything.
I have learned that Disney truly is a special place and you must be prepared. I would become real familiar with the Disney parks website and get some travel books on Disney. Your library should have some books. There is even a Birnbaum guide-book for kids which is good for the kids to look at. That should give you a good idea of what kinds of rides and attractions are at Disney. Then you can start to compile your list of things to do. A word of caution, Disney is so big that you might not see and do everything that is on your list so don’t be disappointed if you can’t get it all done.
Enjoy planning your trip and even enjoy your trip more.
