Disney’s Garden Grill, a must do!

Many times I get asked by friends and co workers, what’s the best character meal at Disney World? Now, while this is a loaded question, because Disney is the master at the character meal, there still is a few you just don’t hear as much about as you would, say like for example as a Cinderella’s royal table or Chef Mickey’s. Well, I’d love to share my families favorite must do character meal! When my family of 6 is planning our trip to the happiest place on earth one of the most requested places to get an advanced dining reservation for is Garden grill inside Epcot park for Chip n dale’s Harvest Feast. So, let me get into the details of why this place is so much fun.

LOCATION/AMBIENCE:

The Garden Grill is located at Epcot park inside The Land pavilion on the second floor. They are only opened for dinner, but my, what a great dinner it is! When your buzzer goes off and it’s time to be seated listen closely as you hear the host/hostess tell you to watch your step on to the MOVING platform. That’s right, this restaurant rotates, but, have no fear of motion sickness as it is a slow rotation. It rotates because it will be taking you through the scenes of the Living with the Land ride you’ll find just downstairs. My favorite is the rainforest scene. If you want a really good view of the scenes ask for a edge booth, but, we’ve never had a problem seeing well enough on the upper tier.

FOOD:

The food here is a buffet, but served family style. Meaning the servers will bring the platters to your table, which if you are a mom of smaller children this is amazing, not having to get up and go in waves to get food and not really enjoy your family making memories. They start you out with a garden salad, and it’s not just any garden salad. The greens are actually micro greens they grow inside the Land, and you will see this first hand on the Living with the Land ride. It is such a great salad that a bowl full of that and I would’ve been pleased. You will also get a basket of warm rolls with a tasty orange blossom honey butter, YUM! Next, they’ll bring the main dishes and sides. There is a kid’s platter that includes: baked mac and cheese with goldfish topping, baked chicken legs, broccoli, and sweet potato fries. For dessert they will get fun cupcake cones. Adults should be prepared to feast on such delicious choices as: Filet of beef with red wine butter sauce, sliced turkey with gravy, stuffing, sustainable fish of the day ( which we’ve always gotten tilapia that again comes from the Living with the Land area) with a tomato jam, garden veggies, sweet potato fries, and, buttermilk mashed potatoes. Please save room for dessert, it is a seasonal berry cobbler skillet with vanilla bean whipped cream, and it’s amazing! You will also of course get a non- alcoholic beverage included.

CHARACTERS:

The characters here are a great value, you’re gonna see chip and dale, pluto, and the main mouse himself, MICKEY! The chance to dine with some of the most sought after characters, especially mickey, while not having to rush through the experience that usually happens at Chef Mickey’ s. The times we have dined there we’ve gotten hugs, pictures, and autographs not once during our meal, but, the norm has been twice! It really makes you feel justified in your choice. Plus MIckey is dressed in a fun farmer get up and it really makes for a cute picture.

PRICE: This meal will take 1 table service dining credit per person or out of pocket it varies by season, but, will run anywhere from $37.97-44.72 for adults and $19.10-21.29 for kids ages 3-9. Tax is included, gratuity is not unless you are a party of 6 or more.

All in all I would say if you have park admission, and will be looking for a great character meal or have a Mickey fan in the family (which aren’t we all) this is definitely the place to go and try out. Your family and tummy will thank me!

Until next time, Have a magical day!
