Disney’s Yacht Club versus Disney’s Pop Century Resort – A Question for The Disney Moms

Donna asked The Disney Moms:
“I am seeing mixed review on Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. Is it kid friendly ? We usually stay at Pop Century And saw a great deal with tickets and meal plan so we upgraded. Thinking I may have made a mistake.”

My answer – Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is absolutely a fun resort for kids of all ages!
While I love Pop Century and consider it my “go to Value Resort”, given the choice between it and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort – the Yacht Club will win every time!

The decor is a tad more sophisticated than whimsical, but there are Mickey touches everywhere. PLUS you will be on the Boardwalk, so every time you walk out of the resort, it will be like you are in the middle of a fair or circus…the people watching is terrific and of course there are tons of fun, kid friendly things to experience on the Boardwalk.
The main reason I heart the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts though, is the sand bottom pool with the humongous pirate ship slide!! What a delight – the kiddos will also enjoy the lazy river, the sand bar play area, the pool toys and did I mention the pirate ship slide!?!

By the way, there is beach front access across the sidewalk from the pool with hammocks and a fire pit. Nightly, weather permitting, the resort will feature a Disney movie on the outdoor screen also placed on the beach front. You will be a 10-12 minute stroll away from Hollywood Studios and even less to the backdoor of Epcot.

Congrats on your great deal! We would love for you to post your favorites photos on The Disney Moms Facebook page after your trip…in the meantime, here are a few photos from my last visit to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.
