Do You Dream about Disney?

A little over a year ago, my family was fortunate enough to be able to take a long weekend and travel to Walt Disney World for the 40th Anniversary celebration, as well as the start of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival!  That trip was a dream come true for me because so many pieces fell right into place to allow us to experience the Disney Magic that can only come when you visit the Happiest Place on Earth!

All of that led me to think about this as I prepared for my post on The Disney Moms this month, and I started wondering, do you dream about Disney?  There are many layers to the Disney onion, so I thought I would share a few of them with you as they pertain to me and discuss whether or not the dream has come true yet.

1) Raising a family that loves Disney as much as I do.  When it comes to my immediate family, I think it is safe to say that I am the resident expert and fan of Walt Disney World in the family.  I have been blessed in that my wife Cindy loves Walt Disney World as much as I do, but she had never been before we went together for two days a short while before we got married.  Before Sophie was even born we had purchased Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, both for the movie and also for the special lithographs that are in her room to this day, and her love of Disney was born!

2) The Disney Vacation Club, as many of you know, is the Disney version of a timeshare system, but the difference is that instead of buying at a specific time and place and being stuck there, you actually buy points, and you can use those points as you choose to to stay where you want, when you want!  One of my Disney Dreams come true was when Cindy and I purchased our DVC ownership in June, 2010, during the trip that we took Stephanie to Disney World!  One of the main reasons that we decided to purchase our ownership was so that we could bring family with us that wouldn’t normally be able to go otherwise. So far that has led us to have a great multi-generational family vacation with family, an incredible family and friends vacation with Kerry, Neal, River, Izaiah, Monica, and Madelyne-Lois, and it even allowed my niece Stephanie to see one of her dreams come true, right in front of Cinderella Castle!  The Disney Vacation Club is an expense, there is no doubt of that, but for our family, we have been able to pay our Disney Dreams forward in just these two trips!  So many memories, and I wouldn’t trade a single one of them!

3) The Walt Disney World Moms Panel is, in the eyes of many, the ultimate question and answer forum about Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, runDisney, Adventures by Disney, and all of the other facets of Disney.  Every year the Walt Disney World Moms Panel invites people to apply to become the next crop of Disney fans that are selected to join the panel.  The application process is not hard, but the waiting is intense, and often leads to a lot of sleepless nights by many people who hope to be selected for the panel.  I have applied to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel for the past three years.  In year one, I crashed and burned really quickly as I learned that I wasn’t prepared for the application process at all!  Last year, I made it past round one, and made it to round two, which meant that I had to answer more questions, and upload a video.  I didn’t make it to round three, though, much to my dismay.  I was extremely surprised by how much disappointment came with that rejection letter.  This year, I also made it to round two, and I feel like I did my video much better, so I’m hopeful.  Dare I dream to make it to round three?  For those of us trying to get to the third round, which is phone interviews, we haven’t heard our fate yet.  Speculation is that we’ll find out by the end of the month because phone interviews are supposed to be in the early weeks of November.

I wear my heart on my sleeve, just ask my wife or any of my friends and they’ll tell you that.  The question is how much of myself should I allow myself get caught up in the process, the hopes, the dreams, all of the drama, stress, and anxiety that comes with applying for the Walt Disney World Moms panel.  It is early in the process; the round two submissions have only been closed for one week, but something tells me that by the end of this week, and into next week, I’ll be all in on the Walt Disney World Moms panel hope and dreams team.  If it turns out that I don’t get on the panel, well, then I don’t get on the panel.  But I’m not ready to put that dream away just yet.  Good luck to all my fellow Round 2 hopefuls, hopefully I’ll see you at training in early December!

I imagine that all of us that love vacationing at Disney have our own versions of our Disney Dreams!  What are your dreams?  Have any of them come true, or are you still patiently waiting?  Why not let us know in the comments, and thanks for reading!
