Is the Spirit of Aloha at the Polynesian Appropriate for Small Children

The Disney Moms reader, June asked the following question:

Can babies and one-yr-olds attend the Luau DinnerShow at the Polynesian.  I read it’s a two hour show!  We have a large party of 12 (all family) that includes those ages.  Also, is this a buffet?

The Luau Dinner Show is an excellent show.  It is held at the Polynesian Resort.  Guests are promptly seated at long tables which are located in front of the stage.  Many of the seats in this particular dining experience are better than others.  For instance, some actually have the guests back to the stage.  As such, you must sit sideways while eating to see the performances and eat at the same time.

Children can certainly attend this show.  The cost for a child of 1 is FREE!  Parents can request children’s meals if the menu items provided are not suitable.  As far as the menu for the dinner show, it includes the following:

Appetizers:  Pineapple-Coconut, Bread, Mixed Greens with Mango Poppy Seed Dressing and Sweet Golden Pineapple

Main Course:  Pineapple-Honey Barbecued Pork Ribs, Ginger-Garlic Roasted Chicken, Polynesian Fried Rice, Seasonal Vegetables

Dessert: Volcano Delight

The food is brought to each guests’ table.  If more of any one item is needed, let your server know!  The food is great and expect to leave full!

I believe your child will enjoy their experience at the Luau.  However, only you know your child best.  The show is fun and entertaining.  However, there is quite a bit of commotion with the deliveries of foods all around your table, as well as the noises coming from the stage.  If this is too much for your child, you may want to plan on walking around with your child during the parts you feel to be too much for your child.  Have fun!
