One of the best treats that a Walt Disney World vacation brings, is the food! It is one of the things that Husband looks forward to most on our Disney trips. Top of our list is a restaurant that is no stranger to hitting the top of most peoples lists, Le Cellier Steakhouse, located in the Canadian area of EPCOTs World Showcase.
Nestled back in a beautiful garden and set into a stone wall, is Le Cellier, one of the most popular Disney eateries. After check-in, you are escorted down to the cellar of of rich dark woods and stain glass, where you are seated and presented a menu of delectable foods. So many choices to choose from but one that everyone should try at least once is found on the appetizer list called Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, made with Moosehead beer and bacon. It is creamy goodness in a cup and something that is ordered every time we have reservation. Another dish that is top of our list is the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon, which is an 8oz Canadian AAA beef tenderloin with a wild mushroom risotto, white truffle butter sauce and micro chervil. Both of these dishes are so popular that they made it to the EPCOT Wine and Food Festival 2012’s Canadian booth, which had a line nearly half a mile long but we still waited to get seconds even though we had eaten at the actual restaurant a few days before. Another recommended dish is one of Husband’s favorites, the Canadian “Prime” New York Strip and the potato pave that comes with it is to die for!
Do the menu items above sound a little un-kid friendly? They have an excellent kids menu at Le Cellier for children age 3-9 including the Cheddar Cheese soup as an appetizer and a sirloin, a pasta, a chicken or fish dish as an entree. I breeze through the starter and main dishes because one of our favorite desserts is on the kids menu and it is too cute to boot. It is called the Chocolate Moose and it is presented at the table in the shape of a little moose head where it brought huge smiles to Lil’s face but we all enjoyed a bite!
Le Cellier is on the Disney Dining Plan and up until this year, Le Cellier had been one dining credit for lunch and two dining credits for dinner, but starting this year in 2013, both lunch and dinner now cost two dining credits. We have always visited WDW when we could get the free dining plan and aimed for lunchtime reservations to eat at Le Cellier for one credit, but on our next trip, despite if we have have the dining plan or not, we will go to Le Cellier but pay out of pocket so we can save our credits for some of our other favorite place to eat. We will dine at Le Cellier each and every time we vacation at the World because it is just that good! 5 stars and 2 thumbs up! Bon Appetit!
