If you are on the Cub Scout or Boy Scout Trail with your son,
if you find yourself traveling to Walt Disney World Resort & Parks,
if you like to accomplish two (or three) goals with one activity, then you will enjoy Scouting at Walt Disney World!

Animal Kingdom’s new Wilderness Explorer Activity Guides overlap many scout electives & requirements in nature & animal study.
As a Scout Mom and a Disney enthusiast, I have included scouting in our Disney vacations since my scout was a little Tiger Cub (first grade). Volunteering as the Assistant Den Leader throughout his Cub Scout years and now as Boy Scout Troop Committee Member, I appreciate the values of scouting, while encouraging the fun in the accomplishment. Walt Disney World Resort & Parks is a magical playground ripe for creating lasting family and scouting memories!
Rank Requirements & Electives
The first steps along the Boy Scout Trail are intended to open up the world to a young scouts inquisitive mind. Rank advancement through the scouting program encourages scouts and their families to engage in a variety of activities together. Here are a few activities scouts may complete – the Disney way…
- If you create an emergency plan with your scout, like ‘What to do if you are separated in the parks.’ – your scout will have completed a portion of a Tiger, Wolf or Bear family safety Rank/Elective.
- If your Wolf Scout participates in acting out the story of Belle & Beast in ‘Enchanted Tales with Belle’ (located in Magic Kingdom’s New Fantasyland), he will complete the Wolf Requirement #2. Be An Actor elective.
- The Wilderness Explorer activities in Animal Kingdom include several ways to complete a nature or animal study rank/elective requirement – like the Bear Scout’s ‘Sharing Your Environment, bird study’.
PirateMomPenny enjoys helping others plan their Disney vacations and writing about how her family enjoys “scouting with the mouse” while on their Disney vacations at ScoutingWDW.com.
Born and raised in the south, I now live in central New Jersey. My days are filled with homeschooling, reading, and ministry work. My son and I are active members of our local church and enjoy camping with the Boy Scouts of America.
We believe every day is a day to celebrate and if you visit our kitchen, you will find us putting sprinkles on everything from pancakes to ice cream! Between baseball games and scouting trips, we enjoy dreaming about our next Disney vacation.
