When I traveled to the Magic Kingdom earlier this year for a mid-winter break, I was on the search for my favorite quick service meal…a fresh Taco Salad. According to Cast Members, when Tortuga Tavern opens in April for the summer season, this scrumptious meal will be on the menu.
In November 2014, Pecos Bills menu was changed and the infamous Taco Salad was discontinued. I was saddened when I learned my go-to lunch item was no longer available.
The Taco Salad is made from a yummy taco shell, shaped like a bowl, with a warm scoop of seasoned ground beef inside. Guests then completed their salads with their choice of fresh lettuce, cheese, tomato, salsa, onions, and more from the nearby toppings bar. While Walt Disney World Parks offers many delicious quick service meals (think beyond hamburgers and hotdogs, although Casey’s Corner hotdogs are long time favorites as well), the Taco Salad was a step above traditional offerings.
Located across from The Pirate’s League and conveniently accessible from both Frontierland and Adventureland, Tortuga Tavern is on my dining list for my 2015 summer trip.

Born and raised in the south, I now live in central New Jersey. My days are filled with homeschooling, reading, and ministry work. My son and I are active members of our local church and enjoy camping with the Boy Scouts of America.
We believe everyday is a day to celebrate and if you visit our kitchen, you will find us putting sprinkles on everything from pancakes to ice cream! Between baseball games and scouting trips, we enjoy dreaming about our next Disney vacation.
